Cradlepoint Launches All-Inclusive Cloud Service Packages

Cradlepoint Launches All-Inclusive Cloud Service Packages That Make Secure IoT Networking More Affordable and Easier to Deploy and Manage

NetCloud Solution Packages for IoT Include Software-Defined Perimeter Security and a New 4G LTE Router Option; Provides an Affordable and Secure Alternative to Hardware-Centric Offerings

Cradlepoint, the global leader in cloud-delivered 4G LTE network solutions that provide a pathway to 5G have announced all-inclusive cloud service packages for its Internet of Things (IoT) network solutions that include Software-Defined Perimeter technology for secure device-to-cloud connectivity. This is the second major product announcement from Cradlepoint under its new NetCloud Solution Packages model, which launched Jan. 16, 2018.

Organizations of all sizes are deploying IoT solutions over cellular 4G LTE networks to enable new business opportunities, streamline operations and reduce costs. However, according to a 2017 survey report by James Brehm & Associates, over half of the 416 respondents cited the need for better IoT security, with 65 percent listing security as a significant barrier to expanding their deployments. The second highest barrier was the cost-to-deploy at 48 percent. Simply offering low-cost hardware doesn’t sufficiently address the mounting security and device management challenges faced by companies with sprawling IoT deployments.

Affordability Without Sacrificing Security and Manageability

Cradlepoint’s Elastic Edge™ is a blueprint for next-generation IoT networking that includes pervasive wireless connectivity, cloud management and integrated Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) security, which uses encrypted, perimeter-secured virtual overlays with private IP addressing to isolate and cloak IoT devices from the Internet. With today’s Cradlepoint announcement, customers no longer need to trade off security and manageability to get an affordable LTE router solution for IoT.

“Everything we’re hearing from partners and industry experts warns about the risks of trading off manageability and security for a low price when it comes to buying an enterprise IoT solution,” said Todd Krautkremer, chief marketing officer at Cradlepoint. “We’ve bundled cloud management and advanced, software-defined security with every NetCloud Solution Package for IoT we sell, so customers don’t have to.”

At this week’s IoT Evolution Expo conference, Cradlepoint is unveiling NetCloud Solution Packages for its new COR IBR200 LTE router that extends the benefits of Elastic Edge to even the most cost-sensitive use cases, including kiosks, vending machines, ATMs, digital signage and remote sensors. The new cloud service solution packages simplify the way customers buy, deploy, manage and evolve their Cradlepoint IoT networks, facilitating rapid deployment and time-to-value, as well as customer success. Each package, which is available in one-, three- or five-year terms, combines essential NetCloud service capabilities — including NetCloud Perimeter for SDP security — with lifetime-warranted IBR200 Series hardware and comprehensive 24×7 support.

“Despite the huge growth in IoT deployments, security and management-related costs remain top concerns for IT organizations,” said James Brehm, founder of Brehm & Associates. “Cradlepoint has taken a service-oriented approach to addressing these challenges by combining cloud management, routing and security features, along with purpose-built hardware, into a single cloud service with 24×7 vendor support. With their new IBR200 LTE router, Cradlepoint has made it possible for any size and skilled business to deploy a secure and cost-effective cellular IoT solution.”

In addition to the operational savings represented by Cradlepoint’s new, all-inclusive cloud service packaging model, the IBR200 router is equipped with a medium-speed 4G LTE modem that allows customers to take advantage of low-cost IoT/M2M data plans offered by major cellular providers. This combination enables channel partners to bring the value of Cradlepoint’s proven 4G LTE IoT solutions to a wider range of customers and use cases.

“Cradlepoint’s cloud management and innovative software features, such as intelligent 4G LTE routing and automatic carrier selection, have made them the solution of choice for large IoT deployments within Fortune 500 customers”, said Peter Dunn, consulting director at Orbcomm. “The new NetCloud Solution Packages and COR IBR200 router provide an even more compelling value while simplifying the buying process, accelerating deployment times, enhancing security and reducing cellular data plan costs — issues that have been real pain points, especially for more cost-sensitive customers.”

NetCloud Solution Packages for IoT with COR IBR200 and IBR600 Series routers are commercially available now.

Cradlepoint NetCloud to provide secure connectivity for people, places and things

CRADLEPOINT logoCradlepoint NetCloud™ Platform Leverages Pertino Acquisition to Provide Secure Connectivity for People, Places, and Things

Platform strategy enables software-defined and cloud-based wired and wireless broadband networks for branch, mobile, and IoT; SoftBank Corp. is the first carrier partner

Cradlepoint, the global leader in cloud-based network solutions for connecting people, places, and things over wired and wireless broadband, announced Cradlepoint NetCloud, a new platform strategy that combines its existing software and cloud services with the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technology from the recent acquisition of Pertino. The strategy will be rolled-out in several phases over the next six months.

In a separate announcement today, Cradlepoint and SoftBank Corp., a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp. and a leading provider of mobile, fixed-line, and Internet communication services in Japan (TOKYO: 9984), announced the commercial availability of WhiteCloud OneLayer on Cradlepoint NetCloud. The co-branded service lets customers instantly build branch, mobile, and IoT networks in the cloud with a layer of policy-based services for end-to-end security and control. SoftBank is the first carrier to deliver managed network services using the platform. OneLayer on Cradlepoint NetCloud will be sold through SoftBank’s direct sales organization in Japan and through its subsidiaries and partnerships around the world.

“Cradlepoint’s NetCloud lets us harness cloud, SDN, and NFV technologies to rapidly deliver new services that meet our customers’ evolving network needs in this new era of Internet-centric IT,” said Sadahiro Sato, senior vice president at SoftBank Corp. “Instead of building and managing multiple physical networks, OneLayer on Cradlepoint NetCloud lets customers deploy a single cloud-based WAN that can be configured in minutes to meet the specific needs of connecting remote sites, workers and IoT devices anywhere in the world.”

About Cradlepoint NetCloud
Companies across industries are embracing cloud, mobile, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to increase business agility, empower distributed workforces, and gain operational insights—driving the need for always-connected people, places, and things. As a result, an increasing amount of enterprise network traffic is moving off private IP networks and onto the public Internet. The Cradlepoint NetCloud platform is designed specifically for this new “Interprise” era and allows companies to deploy private cloud networks over wired and wireless broadband Internet services for branch, mobile workforce, vehicle, and IoT networks.

“The Cradlepoint NetCloud platform is at the heart of our strategy to extend leadership in cloud-managed 4G LTE solutions to the emerging opportunity for converged, software-defined enterprise networks designed to connect people, places, and things over Internet broadband,” said George Mulhern, Cradlepoint CEO. “We are pleased to partner with SoftBank in delivering OneLayer on Cradlepoint NetCloud, the first carrier-delivered service that runs on our new platform strategy.”

Cradlepoint NetCloud is based on the integration of the company’s proven Enterprise Cloud Manager (ECM) platform for management and zero-touch deployment of its 4G LTE-enabled routers and M2M/IoT gateways with Pertino’s Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) platform that leverages cloud, SDN, and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies. The new integrated platform provides an entirely new way to build, secure, control, and manage end-to-end private networks in the cloud using wired and wireless broadband Internet services. Cradlepont NetCloud will be rolled-out in several phases starting with today’s rebranding of the Pertino Cloud Network Engine service as Cradlepoint NetCloud Engine and followed in less than 90 days with single-pane-of-glass management and router integrations.

“While all eyes are on the SD-WAN space and the pending refresh of MPLS branch networks, Cradlepoint’s new NetCloud platform strategy, and its first carrier partnership with SoftBank, highlights the significant opportunity for SDN and NFV—wrapped in a cloud model—to transform wired and wireless consumer broadband into enterprise-grade networks,” said Lee Doyle, principal analyst at Doyle Research. “The benefits of this private-intranet-over-public-Internet approach extends beyond the branch, addressing the distributed security and policy enforcement challenges unique to cloud, mobility, and IoT deployments within the enterprise.”

To support the SoftBank partnership and sales expansion in the Asia Pacific region, Cradlepoint has established offices in Japan and Australia.
