Andy Rooke from ERTICO key speaker at FCS Comms Installer 2015

FCS Comms Installer 2015

Comms Installer is the one-day industry summit and exhibition for all vehicle installation professionals. This year’s one-day Comms Installer event will take place at The Heart of England, an impressive, purpose built conference centre set in 160 acres of Warwickshire countryside and woodlands. The HoE has excellent motorway links to M6 and M42 as well as being only 10 minutes drive to Birmingham International Airport and train station with a wide range of accomodation available nearby.

Here’s just three highlights of the programme to date:

Emergency services feature large in the industry’s agenda this year:  45,000 vehicles will need to have Airwave kit stripped out and new LTE equipment installed when the new Emergency Services Network kicks in.  That means major opportunities for professional installers — especially as the procurement will be handled on a region-by-region, authority-by-authority basis.  Come and get up to speed on the Emergency Services Mobile Communication Programme.

Key Speaker:

Andy Rooke – the long road to e-call

How good to know that if you crash your car, you won’t any longer have to scramble around for your mobile phone while you’re hanging upside down with two broken legs before you can make a 999 call.  Your car will automatically start dialling 999 (or, actually, 112) the moment your air-bag goes off.  By the time it’s deflated, emergency services will already have your satellite position and an idea of the nature of the impact, and will be ready to talk to you over your car’s entertainment system.  It’s called E-call.  It’s going to be mandatory for all new cars sold in the EU after 2018.  And it’s got to be the hottest retro-fit opportunity since 8-track!  Andy Rooke has spent most of the last three years working across the EU to bring ERTICO’s pan-European e-call project to fruition.  He will bring the latest thinking and the latest developments to the conference.

Sick of waiting for Her Majesty’s Government to name the day and switch off analogue radio broadcasting?  You’re not the only one.

June 4 might be a bit soon to expect a definitive statement from the new Government.  But we do have a definite direction of travel:  more stations, more multiplexes, more DAB kit and more Government-backed national advertising around in-car listening than ever before.  Come and hear the experts from Digital Radio UK explain what’s going on, and how to get your name on the official Installer Register.

If you would like to attend please email  call your details or call Jasmine on 020 7186 5434

Please contact Laura Beard at FCS for more information on exhibiting.
